Marandi opens Shrawani fair

DEOGHAR: Chief Minister of Jharkhand Babu Lal Marandi formally inaugurated the world famous Shrawani fair at Kanwariapath here on Tuesday. Marandi called upon the people of Deoghar and officials concerned to dedicate themselves to the services of pilgrims who overcome huge odds to reach here. “Administration can provide them basic amenities but the pain endured during the long and arduous journey can only be mitigated by locals’ sweet behaviour,� said the chief minister. Later the CM inaugurated ‘Sanskar Mandap’ constructed on the premises of Baidyanath temple for the kanwarias. The fair concludes on August 22. Bhagalpur: Home secretary of Bihar U N Panjiyar, DGP R R Prasad and health secretary A K Choudhary on Tuesday reviewed the final preparations made by the officials of Bhagalpur, Banka and Munger districts for the month-long Shrawani fair.
